Premise of Ugly Betty= Lame?
Does anyone else find the general premise lame?

"Lets make a show that is about an ugly woman. But don't worry! We wouldn't really put an ugly woman in a starring roll! *gaufa gaufa* We'll get an actractive woman, put fake braces on her and give her an ugly hairdo which will also make her look 15. We'll call it: Ugly Betty"

Answers: Personally I haven't watched the show. I find the whole "calling a woman ugly" concept to be degrading. And as you mentioned putting a strikingly beautiful woman in the role of the ugly girl is pathetic. It goes to show that almost any woman given the time and money to work on her appearance really can be beautiful... too bad we don't all have that luxury. ugly betty is actually a good show, i watched all of last season, if this is your first viewing give it one more shot, the plot is pretty good and easy to follow and its really funny!
and sorry but i thought arrested development sucked, that was the one on fox right? not very good at all, but everyone is different, so to each their own! happy viewing either way!!! that's great for you, but since I find the upfront humor of Ugly Better & funnier. While A.D. is cool, U.B is better. At least both are equally better than all of those reality t.v. series! So glad I don't watch a lot of t.v. I agree.
