Biggest Loser. I watched it last night and the weight loss amounts for just about everyone were low. Everyone was dissappointed as they all said they stepped up their work outs.
Now, when I was on weight watchers and was doing a lot of exercise, after awhile my weight loss each week went down. I was losing inches however. I used to get upset because I was busting my butt physically and sticking to the program and losing about 1 or 1 1/2 pounds per week when the lady I went with sat on her butt all day and did no exercises and was losing weight faster than I was. It was frustrating.
I was told that when you exercise you are building muscle which weighs more than fat so you are still losing, inches, even if your number is lower. If this is true, then those on the Biggest Loser should be told this by their trainers. They all seemed dissappointed that they lost so little but trained extra hard.
Answers: It is true muscle weighs more than fat and the reason you lose inches is because muscle takes up less room than fat.
They are expecting bigger numbers I think because they have so much to lose. Most of the ones that don't have as much to lose tend to lose less than the ones that have more.
That is mainly why they base the winners on the percentage of loss.
Also, when you plateau you need to shake up your routine and change some things to make you body work different.
I am sure they are told after the first couple of weeks not to expect too much, but when you have the mind set that you are working your butt off you kinda expect a little more maybe. Everyone is different. Everyone looses weight at a different rate. I wouldn't compare your weight loss with a TV show. Your right though muscle weights more then fat. Just keep up the good work with your program. i agree with you on this. they should let them know. it's very wrong of them not to tell them. that is true, but they are more disappointed because it is a competition and people get voted off if they don't have the highest numbers
