Although our Canadian talent pool is much smaller, I think the new formula, allowing contestants to play instruments has lifted the level of competition a notch over the standard format of American Idol.

I'm close to the Canadian border, so I can watch both shows, and I absolutely love Canadian Idol. I think that AI tries to fill the mold, and all the contestants end up bland and boring. CI really promotes individuality. I love that they can play instruments this year, let's see if AI jumps on the bandwagon next season. The talent is great this year, too... the guys especially are all so unique. I like Tyler amd Liam especially!! The host and jugdes seem more real to me as well, like they aren't just *acting*, ya hear?
