What is it with the cranky British judges on reality TV?!

What is it with the cranky British judges on reality TV?

It started with Simon Cowell. Now it includes people like Morgan Piers (America's Got Talent) and Gordon Ramsay (Hell's Kitchen). What is it with these cranky Brits, and why does this sell so much in America? What do you think about this angry British invasion?

I'm definitely not trying to say that all British people are cranky. I'm just talking about these judges.

I am British and can tell you that the people you mention are not like most of us.

They are very tuned in people who know how to make money. They are playing on the fact that American citizens are generally very polite even if that means telling the odd 'white lie'.

What they are doing is telling what they believe to be the truth in a very hard way, and that is new to the American audience. New and novel things sell....for a while. The producers of the programmes are just cashing in on the bandwagon as usual. But what fun!
