In Season 2 of the show 24, the first scene is of a guy getting tortured in Sout!

Question:

In Season 2 of the show 24, the first scene is of a guy getting tortured in South Korea. Who is he?

They never bring that storyline back. It seamed very out of place to me. Anyone know why it was included? Is it part of a future season that they were hinting at?

Answers:

The guy being tortured is somebody who possibly knew of a threat to national security. At the end of that scene, someone who is torturing him goes into a room of people, and someone in the room asks "When?" The reply is "Today". Following that one a the men in the room get on the phone and say "Get me Eric Rayburn, N.S.A.", (National Security Agency). The whole scene is basically just letting viewers know that something is planned to happen for that "day" (season) of the show. I'd guess they were asking the guy when there could be a possible attack, and all the others there were people working for, or involved with gathering info for the government.

You also said they never bring that storyline back. If you have seen the entire season, you likely know what I am referring to above. I have seen all the seasons so far and by the end of season two, the opening segments made sense with regards to that scene and the way it all plays out.
