CSI is everywhere, but how plausible are the plots?!

Question:

CSI is everywhere, but how plausible are the plots?

Yeah, ok. All these CSI programs on TV. I'm näive enough to believe everything they show is possible, but do police departments really have the budgets and specialists able to consistently find things based on the kind of evidence shown in the plots of these programs? It seems a bit far-fetched sometimes.

Thanks for the comment about Entertainment Tonight. However, making assumptions that I even can see that program demonstrates that you think only Americans use Yahoo! Answers. I'm in Belgium. Not everything you get there is shown here, you know.

The crimes could be real, and the techniques to solve them could be utilized. However, I doubt that any individual crime lab could have all those expensive gizmos.

Most crime solving is done by foot work; forensics plays a small part in it.

My brother the lawyer says that juries these days suffer from the CSI syndrome, in that they expect a raft of forensic evidence to determine guilt or innocence, when it's usually not present.
