Little is known about Pretty. She was until recently referred to as the "Unnamed Daughter" of Julian Crane and Ivy Winthrop. Her name was finally revealed on January 8, 2007. Apparently, she was named Pretty because she was so beautiful. She was conceived one night in Sri Lanka, when her parents were both wishing that they could really love each other. She is younger than Ethan and Fancy, but older than Fox. Pretty, along with her siblings Fancy and Fox, were sent away to boarding school at a young age. She has been away from Harmony since before 1999. She was unable to return to Harmony to say goodbye to her brother Ethan when he was going to be taken off of life support. It was recently revealed that she was disinherited by her grandfather Alistair Crane. Julian and Ivy have hinted that Pretty might have been disfigured, somehow; when Ivy mentioned how beautiful Pretty used to be, Julian replied, "Let's not dwell on that". She and her sister Fancy are supposedly close, but it appears that they've had conflicts with each other in the past. She and her mother Ivy aren't close at all, and Pretty doesn't want to have anything to do with her.
Her sister Fancy's thirteenth birthday party was canceled five minutes before its designated start time after Fancy and Pretty stole the caterer's van and drove it halfway to neighboring Castleton. It was revealed on January 25, 2007, that when the Crane family went to a country club for Labor day weekend, Fancy stole a guy from her. Fancy had a crush on the guy, but he liked Pretty. Pretty brought him along on an outing on Alistair's yacht. Fancy decided to pretend to twist her ankle so that she could get the young man's attention. The result was that the young man abandoned Pretty and lavished all his attention on Fancy for the rest of the trip. It was revealed after the trip was over that Fancy and the guy were dating; Pretty was devastated. A week later, Fancy broke up with him. Her aunt Sheridan also stated that Fancy has stolen more boyfriends from Pretty in the past besides this one. It should be noted that while Fancy denied what Sheridan said had happened, she didn't give her own viewpoint of what had happened.
When Sheridan brought up Pretty's name while arguing with Fancy, Fancy told her: "...don't go there, Sheridan, don't dredge that back up." Sheridan had previously stated on February 23, 2007, that there was a time years ago, when some bad things happened, and everyone blamed Pretty. Pretty was the one with the unstable reputation, and when things went wrong, everyone looked to her. Pretty had begged Fancy to stop, but she wouldn’t. Although the general public is not aware of what occurred between Fancy and Pretty, all of the Cranes, including her older half-brother Ethan, seem to be well-aware of the details. On March 8, 2007, it was revealed that this is the reason why Pretty never comes home. This event caused her and Fancy to have issues, since they had two conflicting sides to the same story. Apparently, everyone believed Fancy over Pretty. Sheridan stated on the witness stand that it was over a boy. Both Fancy and Sheridan believe that this information about the past is bad enough to cause Luis to stop loving Fancy.
When Sheridan was arguing with Fancy in front of Luis about how much Fancy had hurt Pretty, Fancy had what appeared to be a panic attack. Fancy later told her mother Ivy that she never wants to hear Pretty's name ever again. On April 27, 2007, Esme told Fancy that she had seen Pretty in Milan. Pretty was using an alias, and when Esme called out her real name, she ran off. Fancy then wondered how her sister is doing, and how she felt so guilty about the horrible thing she had done to her many years ago. She then said that maybe the bad things that were happening to her were karma payback for what she had done to Pretty.
