Why is "***" or "crap" censored on TV and not "*****&qu!

Question:

Why is "***" or "crap" censored on TV and not "*****"?

technically b***h is more offensive bcuz you are directly referring to a woman as a female mutt.

Answers:

True, but it's much more offensive when used in direct conversation with someone than in the 3rd person. For example, "you stupid b****!" is much more offensive than someone about the company owner "be careful in the meeting, she's a real b****."

It's also used as a verb meaning to complain or whine- i.e. "Don't b**** about it, just get back to work"

I think because of the milder forms that are used, it somehow gets by the censors. That, and the fact that the male counterpart to this word is almost never censored. Like in South Park: "Oh my God they killed Kenny! B*******!"
