The office, Dads Army, Extras and now... Little Britain....? Cant the yanks leav!

Question:

The office, Dads Army, Extras and now... Little Britain....? Cant the yanks leave anything alone?!?

It has been proven so many time already... the Americans CANNOT do or understand British humour (or to rephrase, the American producers/writers), so why in the name of God do they keep trying?

(ps for those who don't know the americans tried their own version of Dad's Army called 'the rear guard' and the only episode (pilot) was an american take on 'The deadly attachment' (the one 'dont tell him your name pike')

Answers:

Actually, we (the American TV viewers) DO get it; that's why so many British comedies are SO very popular here.

The problem is not with Americans in general, but rather the half-witted brain-deads who create television programming. They're idiots, plain and simple.

You're correct in that they seem to believe that they can copy successful shows from the BBC and have the same success with their bland knock-offs. In fact, you left out some examples of their sad attempts to copy British programming. One horrific additional example was their attempt to copy Fawlty Towers. Oh, my God...it was beyond merely abysmal or cluelessly pathetic, in truth there is NO word for just how BAD it was. I believe they aired two episodes before ending their "experiment" in torturing innocent TV viewers.

Anyway, once more, please don't think that we Americans (at large) are somehow in favor of these asinine blunders, or worse still, responsible for them. We're not. Our TV programming is SO bad that we seek out quality products from elsewhere and enjoy them AS THEY ARE. It is solely the actions of the morons at the major TV networks who are to blame for these insipid acts of inanely perpetrated plagiarism.
