The characters will still be on GH during the day.
SOAPnet goes after hours with our favorite General Hospital characters and some new faces on the network's first one-hour original primetime drama. This also is the first time a soap opera has shown more than what we get to see in daytime. The show's storylines are funnier and edgier than General Hospitals, and occur during the night shift at the hospital. However, the two shows storylines do not intersect, on Night Shift they wrap up by the end of each episode.
The show is executive produced by Jill Farren Phelps and written by Robert Guza Jr. The show's production began on Friday, April 20th and 13 episodes have been picked up. The first will air on July 12th.
