What role should local television stations play in a community?!
Question:
What role should local television stations play in a community?
What role should local television stations play in a community, given that despite a proliferation of the number of channels and technological advances, media outlets are owned by fewer and fewer mega-corporations? Is this a desirable or undesirable situation? Defend your position
Answers:
Especially when it comes to things like news and weather, I prefer the local touch - whether it's from TV, radio, print, or the internet. I would want someone who is from the local area instead of someone in New York, Washington, or Atlanta in these situations.
Take for example, the weather. With a local TV station, you'll more likely to get more complete information on bad weather as it happens. With larger media services, they might not be able to cover a local area as effectively as they have to concentrate on a larger geographic area. This is why when there's a bad storm I turn to the local people.
