How are contestants on the TV show Jeopardy so knowledgeable? Do they study from!
Question:
How are contestants on the TV show Jeopardy so knowledgeable? Do they study from a special book or something?
Answers:
No special book that I am aware of. Alex Trebek says the best contestants on his show are students, teachers, and lawyers. There have been at least a few published books giving people pointers on how not to be nervous, and practicing with a type of buzzer at home. They also give samples.
One thing one has to do is read quite a bit. Newspapers, almanacs for basic facts, look at Wikipedia and study things. Jeopardy champion Ken Jennings who won over two million dollars on the show had a curiosity about everything. He would hear something and want to know more, so then he would find out more.
But, basically it's just a lifetime habit of studying, being curious and wanting to know more. In some subjects, I'm sure there is some memorization on certain basic facts, such as who the twenty-fifth president was, or who won the best actor oscar in 1994, and things like that.
