How much does cable TV cost per month?
We haven't had cable TV in a while. I just called to set up an account, but quickly said no thanks when they told me the price. For basic cable, the channels I can get for free with an antenna, they wanted 16.99. For Basic expanded, 70 channels, they want 50.99. Is that normal??? We're in Gainesville, GA.......do you know of a less expensive way to go? I checked into the digital cable companies already, but to get my local stations it throws the price to about 60 a month. There has got to be a cheaper way. Do you spend that much on TV??? If that's the real price, I think we'll stay without it.

We use directv and we pay about 65 a month. We have a tivo (which is included in that price) and we receive everything except premium type channels (HBO, etc). We do not receive our local channels through DTV (it is an extra 6 dollars a month) and just use a regular antenna on our kitchen tv to catch the news or American Idol, should we want to watch our local channels. The price you were quoted sounds about right.
