Lost TV show on ABC, what season is current and is it over? When will new season start?

I just recently rented Lost season 1 and 2 from Netflix, and I am hooked on the show now. I am wondering if season 3 is on TV now, and is it almost over, and would season 4 start in the fall or next spring?

I'm not wondering what has happened on season 3, the DVDs come out in December according to Amazon, and I will get them then, I just wonder where the show is current season -wise.

The 4th season will start in Jan. 08 with 16 consecutive episodes.
I don't think they are playing Season 3 summer re-runs right now but you can download some of the episodes from abc's website.

There will be 3 more seasons of LOST ending the show in May 2010... the only time in history when the producers have decided and announced when a show will end.
Each season will be 16 episodes.

(As you probably know, season 3 ended in May and will be released on DVD Dec. 11th)
