On m*a*s*h which major character was the closest thing the show had to a villain?

my opinion was that frank burns was it.

so here is a poll survey, 10 is the rank of villain, 9 is next, eight is next, then seven, six is only slightly villainous, five is nuts, 4 is slightly crazy, 3 is well meaning, 2 is kind and 1 is hero?

here are the characters for ranking:

frank
hotlips
blake

Answers:

Only Frank could even halfway be plausibly considered a "villain" on MASH. Winchester was a decent enough foil, but wasn't really downright mean as Frank could be. The later characters were given more texture and were more complicated, but not really in a villanous sort of way.

Col. Flagg played ably by Edward Winter perhaps came close, although he could not be considered a major star.

Ultimately, the real villain was blood and death (and those people--whether Korean or Americans who sent people to the 4077th on a frequent basis). Hawkeye would have to considered the hero as he took death the most personally.
