What would make TV better?

Get rid of most of the reality TV. Let's have shows that actually have a story...not people just doing stuff. I used to watch TV for entertainment and as an escape. Who wants 'the real world' when you can have shows that take you out of your reality for awhile. I think a quality variety show would be good...also a way for newcomers to get started. Shows that really develop the characters into people you want to see each week. I know I'm old fashioned, but I think our current TV choices suck. It is too much about shock value instead of quality.
