Question:

Would anyone seriously eat at a restaurant run by any of the remaining chefs on Hell's Kitchen?

This has to be the most pathetic season.

Answers:

I am in the Julia camp on this one...fine dining is not always about foie gras, filet mignon, etc., it can be something as simple as a New York strip steak cooked to perfection. It is about recognizing what your guests want and presenting it to them in such a fashion that they believe Auguste Escoffier is in the kitchen.

The term "chef" is thrown around a lot today. Just because someone graduates from CIA, that doesn't mean they are a chef. In fact, most graduates start out as line cooks and spend years honing their art and palates. I was told by a chef whose experience and wisdom I trust implicitly that being a chef is not about the knowledge you possess, but rather by the passion you exhibit.

The contestants are chosen, I'm sure, based not only on their experience but also by demographics: there is always a "Julia" and there is always a "Rock".
