Jack, you know what buddy SCRUBS is probably closer to real life than shows like E.R. Not all of it of course, most of it is over the top. That's absurdist humor. When the joke is so over the top then that's the joke. At any rate, people who work together tend to joke around. No place is all serious like the situations they portray on most of the hospital dramas. Especially when the boss is not around or whatever, people work together all the time and have become friends, but mostly just to get through the workday. You probably see that yourself where ever you work.
