Why did "On the Lot" turn out to be such a bad show?

Great creators, great idea, trainwreck show! Why?

I'm not asking why the ratings are bad, I am asking why the actual show turned out so bad. I'm still watching it, but i don't know why! Maybe to see how long it takes the show to tell Zack he is the winner and end it...

To be honest, it is like watching a string of trailers waiting for a movie that never comes and then having to listen to Ebert and Roeper tell you what they think you should be thinking. It is two bad things rolled into one. It is America's Funniest Videos gone Hollywood. They should have done it differently. I would have given each person a camera and let them work on the film of their choice and fired them based on their dailys. People would watch to see which movie would be completed and which ones would wind up on the cutting room floor, or if you prefer one movie and they all get to film the next scene as they think the script should go and the person with the least popular scene goes hom until only two people survive and the winner gets to finish the film to be realeased at a later date. Let's face it, people feel like there is no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow for them. They want a movie.
