House the tv show?!

Question:

House the tv show?

OK, "House" is one of my fave shows on tv, but i just started watching this season, so i need someone to do some filling in for me:

First: What happened to House's leg? I know he got shot, but by who?

Second: Is that Cameron chick really in love with him? Did she say she was? What ep., if so? Does House have any feelings for her?

And lastly: Did House and Cuddy ever have a thing? Does she actually like him and just pretends not to?

Answers:

FIRST:
Back in the day, he had an infarction in his leg, similar to a heart attack. To save his life, Stacy (his old flame) acted as his proxy and okayed a surgery removing part of his leg muscle. There is some dispute as to the actual long term impact. House started taking Vicodin for the pain, but he did almost no physical therapy. It is unclear how much pain he really experienced as opposed to how much he became addicted to the pain killers.

At the end of the second season, he was shot by a disgruntled patient. House had told the guy's wife that he was a cheat (even though that didn't figure into her diagnosis). Cuddy came up with the idea to use the opportunity to give him a new drug that would "reboot" his brain so that he wouldn't feel the pain in his leg. Less pain would mean he could exercise and begin to rehabilitate his leg and kick the vicodin habit. It seemed to work and he was happily (yes happy House) running to work when the third season began. Either the effects wore off or House started to feel sorry for himself, but he has started to experience pain again and to use his cane again.

SECOND:
Cameron used to think (and say) she had feelings for House, but he shut her down because he's guarded after his relationship with Stacy and in self-destructive mode. House toyed with the idea, but he really can't love anyone because he doesn't love himself (or loves himself a little too much). The Cameron/House flirtation is all in Season 1. Cameron is now onto Dr. Chase (also her real-life fiance).

THIRD:
I don't think House and Cuddy ever had a thing; they're friends and like to aggravate, and occasionally flirt, with one another. I think Cuddy really does like House as a friend, and more importantly, respects him as a doctor.
