To catch a predator?

I was watching this show last night, and i started thinking about some different things. For example- why do these men do this?
Don't answer "becuase they are &%^$^^". I really want to understand why they are trying to have sex with 12-year-olds.
How does someone make a choice like that?
How did they get there?
I mean, did they wake up one day and say,
"I'm going to molest a child today" or was it a series of escalating choices?
Also, should our society take some responsibility for the oversexualization of children, especially girls? Have you seen the bratz dolls?
Also, the objectification of people as bodies still exists, for men and women- like all those vh1 lists or maxim or sports illustrated. Those are adults, of course, but the objectification is one of the problems, i think.

Interesting Idea about the childhood sexual trauma...
But have all of them experienced that?
I don't think that they all have that excuse/reason.

My theory is that they were traumatized in some way as children (mentally or sexually) and they are attracted to young children because they are trying to "get back" what was taken from their own childhood.

Yeah, it's a sick rationale, but I think it's true. Abused children tend to become abusive parents. And polls show that 25-30% of people surveyed said they were either sexually or physically abused at children.

That's a lot of potential predators!
