Do you still watch Seinfeld Re-runs, like I do?!

Question:

Do you still watch Seinfeld Re-runs, like I do?

Or are you upset about what Michael Richards said at the Laugh Factory and boycotting the show?

Answers:

I do, and still laugh out loud. I think the public that is in a haste to burn someone at the stake, for one inappropriate comment suffers from other issues like paranoia, or the reverse racism.
What Michael said, - though still inexcusable, until he apologized and went into rehab for it- wasn't said out in a social conversation. It was the Laugh Factory - a comedy club- where such comments always used to be used to make people laugh without meaning any harm. There were a couple of african-americans heckling him during his act, so he went off, thinking it would be funny, and he crossed the line.

Showing hatred for that, and boycotting the show that has brilliant actors in it and that is utterly hilarious, would be simply displaying a different form of hatred. To receive tolerance, we need to practice tolerance ourselves. Because of this country's background on slavery and civil war, people have developed an overly thin skin and still hurting about the past, instead of taking stupid comments like that with a grain of salt. Giving that much power to a single word results in the entrapment of the people for whom that term might be used in a deragatory term, to keep hurting from it.

That having said, a lot of african-american rappers use that word in most of their songs for entertainment and even to show affection to the one adressed with the word.

Still, it is one word that makes america crumble and pull out their torches to lynch the person who has uttered it.

Bottom line, we, white people should stay away from that word, at all costs. The resonating hatred is way too scary and people don't get it as a joke unless it is uttered by another african-american.

Hope this answers your question.
