They're about equal. When a studio is promoting a movie, they send the stars out to do the talk show rounds. So, you might see John Travolta hawking Hairspray on Leno and then two nights later he's on Letterman. I was very surprised to see Johnny Depp on Letterman a few weeks back. He usually has a " no talk show " clause that protects him.
