General Hospital Question....Jason/ Night Shift?

Why is Jason Morgan out of prison in Night Shift but not on the regular General Hospital?

They are different shows and I am the first to admit, it's very confusing and I am a huge, long time fan. The only explanation I can think of is on the daytime GH, Jason's lawyer is working to get him released on bail or doing some kind of community work. He's supposedly in jail for jumping bail in the first place and only because of the gun incident with Spinelli. Jason hasn't been convicted of killing Alcazar, he's never even been to trial yet.

So, on the Night Shift show it looks like he's already been released on some sort of work release program. Again, I think it is confusing the fans of daytime GH to have this parallel show, with the same characters seeming to be involved in another storyline in another universe !!!!!!

P.S. Don't take my answer in the wrong way, I love the NightShift show, I am for anything that provides more of Jason, especially without so much Sonny in the picture.
