Why are the houseguests in Big Brother 8 not allowed to sing?
Every time a houseguest starts to sing on Big Brother 8 a voice comes on the loudspeaker telling them to stop singing. Why? What's the big deal?

The copyright answer is part of it and also they don't want unfair promotion or advertising. All sorts of media are included not just music.
Also, if any of the houseguests has a good voice they could be seen as trying to get discovered. It's a good ploy considering you have millions of people's undivided attention.
Last night it was kind of amusing when Jameka was talking about TV shows (Snapped, Bad Girls Club) and they quickly cut away from her and went to Zack and Dick only to discover that they too were talking about TV. Then BB cuts to Nick and he was talking about Maury Povich. Everyone in the house was talking about TV and the cutting was all over the place.
Dick's name dropping is kind of an issue too because anyone he mentions can claim slander. He drops Johnny Depp's name a LOT. I was shocked when BB8 stayed with him when he was discussing Johnny Depp doing PIRATES #4 with Keith Richards sans Keira and Orlando. For some reason, I think Johnny Depp might not like being gossipped about. Dick may find himself short a friend if he doesn't shut up.
