Since they are going to have Spike lose his hearing is the child playing the part deaf too. It won't look too realistic if he keeps looking in the direction of sounds. Maybe they'll find a cure for him in the end. This is soapland after al;l.

They cast a new Spike. He'll be played by triplets and they're not deaf. I don't think looking in the direction of sounds will make much difference. And as we know on soaps, Spike will be 5 years old in a few more months.
