What is the average shot length for a 30 second commercial?
I'm making a commercial for a contest and it has to be 30 seconds long exactly. I've been doing some storyboarding and am just getting worried that I won't be able to fit it all in. Anybody know what the average shot length is for a commercial that length? It's a relatively fast paced commercial so I'm hoping just 2 seconds or less for some shots. What you all think?

There are way too many factors involved.
A commercial may be only one shot (scene), with a spokesperson looking directly into the camera for a dramatic plea.
It may be 1-2 second flashes, of scenes....
You need to get your info into 30 seconds. If you try to find some formula, your piece will look like many other pieces.
Want yours to stand out? Be original.
Put your info together, design a 20-22 second ad, and use creative use of fill to make it 30 seconds.
IF you go from 45 seconds, and try to edit down, it will get a feeling of being rushed and slapped together.
