No, the viewers actually loved her!
NBC wanted her to do a series, but she backed out of that. Then they wanted her to do a mini series of 4 episodes, but she backed out of that. Then they finally got her to do a one hour special.
Everyone, including myself was expecting to hate her.
But she actually came across as a really decent person.
