Why do TV reruns only show the same few episodes over and over and over again?!

Question:

Why do TV reruns only show the same few episodes over and over and over again?

On most channels, if a show airs reruns, instead of showing random episodes from the entire series every day, they just keep showing the same 5-10 episodes constantly. I wouldn't mind reruns if they kept showing different ones, but I get sick of seeing the same episodes repeatedly.

For instance, on Hannah Montana (and I'm not just talking about that show so don't just not respond because you can't stand it), they keep showing the episode where she lost her voice, the one where Jackson loses his job, and the one where Lilly's boyfriend stands her up over and over and over. They have 26 episodes to choose from, but they keep showing those same three.

On Toon Disney, they show the Aladdin series from the '90s, which had like 80 episodes, but they only seem to show "My Fair Aladdin," "The Ethereal," "Moonlight Madness," and maybe one or two others with Mechanicles.

Every channel seems to do this with every show! Why can't they air the other ones?

Answers:

Reruns of shows usually use the most popular and best rated episodes.

Logically this is because they assume more people will watch because of that, "oh I remember this one factor" then say if they played an episode that didn't rate well at the time, people would be less likely to "re-watch" it.
