Does anyone know abou the show invasion?!

Question:

Does anyone know abou the show invasion?

It was on abc about a year ago..was it cancelled what happened to it?

Answers:

Invasion was one of those great shows that was killed by the network that launched it. It started with decent numbers, helped by the Lost lead-in. Then it started losing audience share little by little. Within a few weeks, ABC started showing a repeat here or there, and Invasion lost more audience. Then when it came back, it started doing better, but then they killed it again for a few weeks and showed Alias instead during the long holiday break. They came back with a couple episodes, then put on a Barbara Walters special instead. Then they brought it back, then started a new detective show in its spot (I forget the name, but it wasn't picked up). Then they showed the remaining episodes and little by little, the audience started coming back, but it was too late. ABC left us all hanging until the last minute, then at the upfronts in NY they confirmed it wouldn't be returning. There was talk of it turning up in the new CW's lineup, but that didn't happen. Then it was thought SciFi might pick it up, but Fitchner leaving for "Prison Break" put the skids to that.

ABC said it cost over $1 million per show and cited that as a big reason for the cancellation, given its mediocre ratings, although the bigwigs said they personally liked the show.

Shawn Cassidy, the show's creator, essentially admitted his mistake in drawing out the first few episodes too much. He said the audience basically told him they were sophisticated enough to have the story progress more quickly, and Shawn said he got the message. By the fifth or sixth episode, things started picking up dramatically, and the rest of the show barrelled along until the last episode.

ABC did learn a lesson from all this though after they essentially killed the show by putting it on and pulling it off so many times... This past season, they decided to put LOST on in two blocks of all new episodes with NO repeats inbetween. They had a "Fall" block of like eight weeks straight with no repeats or other shows being put in the time slot, and then a "Winter/Spring" block for another few months where there was no interruption.

I swore I'd never watch another serialized drama after ABC killed this one, then I got caught up in Deadwood on HBO, and they just cancelled that. ARGH...
