Who are the idiots who cant figure out how to do a background check?
I was watching the finale of a 'reality show' cooking contest this week when the producers come out and say that 1 of the finalists was getting disqualified because he lied about his background.
Stuff like this has been happening more and more on the TV show contests - Survivor, American Idol, etc. where people get disqualified "at the last minute" for something bad in their background checks.
Background checks take about 6 minutes to do online and you can send a Private Investigator out for less than a week to dig deeper if needed. (like a cooking show needs Top Secret clearance or something).
Why are these shows letting people on in the first place - if they are only gonna kick em off later? They should have known their backgrounds well before the show even started taping and if they dont, these shows tape for weeks - so they would have had plenty of time to find these things out!

I don't think having him withdraw for those 2 particular lies was shocking enough for the producers to knowingly overlook them and "plan" to reveal them later. If it was something much more scandalous I can see some networks doing it, but I doubt Food Network would. With that said, I don't know how it could happen in this day and age, but someone dropped the ball somewhere.
I'm especially shocked when any past criminal charges come up on these shows. Before my husband can hire anyone the HR dept. runs a background check and can give him results within hours.
Yes, I definitely think someone at the Food Network got in hot water over this one.
