Biggest Loser Question?!

Question:

Biggest Loser Question?

I've only caught a few episodes of this but I have a few questions that maybe some avid fans can answer. I don't know how it works at all.

1. How fair can it be to put the heaviest people all on one team like in the episode I saw where men were against women. It would seem obvious that they would lose more of the weight.

2. If you only need to lose around 80 pounds and you lose 70, it's going to take you longer to lose that final 10 pounds. So if you aren't losing a lot, won't your team mates vote you off because of it?

3. Do they monitor these really overweight people when they exercise? I'm not that overweight but no way could I do the exercises they do with my bad knee and foot.

I thought it was impression at the end of the only final episode I watched where they had put all those people on the scale in the beginning and then at the end. They lost a lot of weight.

Answers:

If you're talking about the season I saw, they were able to make things relatively fair by turning the amount of pounds lost into the percentage of weight lost (A woman would usually shed less pounds per week than a man, but she had less weight to start out with- therefore if a man lost 10 lbs and she only lost 5, they could still have lost the same percentage of individual body mass).
As far as voting people off, a lot of the voting in the last few episodes (when the game started to get more geared towards individual competition instead of team competition) was determined by who people thought would be most likely to win the grand prize. A lot of the players then tried to get rid of who they thought would be most likely to win the game to give themselves a better shot at winning.
On the episodes, you only see two trainers and one doctor, but I'm sure behind the scenes they have a lot more trainers, doctors, and consultants making sure the players don't get seriously injured (or worse)... although I'm guessing all of the contestants had to sign waivers and such.
I have to admit I find myself watching the show just to see that it's possible to lose that much weight... even if it's next to impossible to do in the real world :)
