What was Dr. Archer doing on GH: Nightshift?!

Question:

What was Dr. Archer doing on GH: Nightshift?

I didn't understand why Dr. Archer (the one who was using the oxygen machine to feel energized) was always shown using the oxygen mask. The writers are probably going to make him become addicted to it or something. What do you think?

Answers:

I think that they more or less showed his waking up with the oxygen so that it will tie into the story they are building on someone sabotaging the hospital and fooling with patients meds and someone dying mysteriously int he next 2-3 episodes.
Here is what I found on his character online. I don't know about being an addict, but It looks like he is gonna fall for nympho Kelly!!

Dr. Andy Archer is an anesthesiologist who thinks doctors need numbing as much as their patients. Andy takes full advantage of hospital goodies to make the night shift easier on everyone, but none of his extracurricular activities have helped him pursue Dr. Kelly Lee. We'll learn that no syringe can heal an aching heart on "General Hospital: Night Shift."
