Answers:
The tv channels will exist in 2009 in the free and clear (I receive my local digital channels over a outside antenna already as I get more channels that way than sat people want to give me for $5!.99/mo)!.!.!.!.

What is happening on TV in the US, is by going digital, it gives Nextel and police/fire/medical units across the USA more frequencies to use , so technically the public has to change 50+ years of tv viewing by buying a digital converter box (which the government is supporting most of the cost) or like you, who get told or confused into thinking they will need cable TV!. Technically you won't need it, but it's easier to misinform and get people stirred up and make them believe they will need cable to watch tv after this!. Hince the big push by TV stations about the convertor boxes (which you own, and will not pay a fee to have to watch local television programming from local channels (such as CBS,NBC,ABC,FOX,PBS)

Newspapers are funded by Ads for most of their revenue, however some of it is made up by purchase price!. Basically you help pay for delivery costs and some of the paper and ink costs!. Most small 6 page newspapers that are thrown for free for example may have $1-2000 in money tied in that one issue (with money from Ads)

Internet is payed for more for delivery and cost of delivery!. The internet is technically free if you want to tap into the backbone of the internet and be willing to support any problems you have by yourself!. Most people can't , so the internet costs are payed for by Ads on certain websites and by the monthly access fee you pay!.

Radio gets payed by Ad revenue for commercial stations!. depending upon the market, most small town stations get payed roughly $30/ 30 second commercial!. Most will run 6-9 commercials an hour at least meaning $200-300/ hour!. The ad revenue from that, the station website (which pays more) plus stations sometimes barter say free advertising for a week (or at least the free mentions of the business for a prize!. Hince the free tickets to Food world restaurant for being the 10th caller!.
also their are people willing to pay to be on the air, so that guy who may do the computer show on a news/talk station actually may pay the radio station to have his show on the station at say a discounted rate (say $300/hour every week, the computer guy or who ever does the show takes care of selling the ads)

Non profits normally get their funding from donations at pledge time just like public tv!. Beg for a few dollars to keep the ministry alive (aka $1 /a hollar)

And By the way, how radio gets payed, TV does the same thing but only in better rates (costs to advertise, which I forgot what a spot is currently on a network affiliate, but I think is $100/ 30 second if I remember on some shows in my area)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Radio is free because it goes through the air!. There is also such a thing as broadcast tv, which nobody ever uses anymore, which is also free!. The radio stations make all of their money from advertising!. Cable networks have to pay to have the rights to most events that they cover, which is why they don't go by advertising alone!. Radio stations also bid for carrying programming such as sporting events or talk radio shows!. But most radio stations broadcast their own content!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

TV will still be free after 2/17/09, you will need to pay a one time fee for a converter box if you don't have a newer tv or cable/satellite!. Radio is free unless you choose to have Sirius or XM!. Technically, you can get the internet for free, if you have a laptop that has an antenna that picks up wi-fi signals, or (like I had to do for years) go to your local library and use it for free!. Because of the internet, you can read a newspaper for free now!. The way that tv and radio are free is because of advertising!. Advertising pays the stations bills and employees!. Those 7 stations your talking about will become about 28 on 2/17/09!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

TV is free, its called an antenna you are prob to young to realize this but b4 cable we all had them on our roofs and many people still do!. It's channel 2,4,5,7,9,11,13 and maybe a few others!. Radio is paid for by commercials, satellite-radio is paid for by subscribers!.

Currently the FCC is trying to get free wifi internet for everyone, part of this is because of the digital switch they are doing in Feb!. and they will use the auctioned off frequencies that were purchased!.!.!.!.but thats prob a lil over your head!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You could pay for radio,,,I DONT BUT the pay radio is much better than free radioWww@Enter-QA@Com
