You have a few options with getting into radio, however it depends on the type of radio you want to do!.
Personally, I work in public radio and am learning many aspects at a start-up station!.
If you want to work in reputable radio (public radio news or similar) I would pursue a degree in broadcast journalism or a background in one of the social sciences like Political Science, Economics, and double major/minor with journalism/broadcast!.
First and foremost: GET AN INTERNSHIP with the type of radio you would like to work in!. If it is commercial morning show, get a job with a local commercial morning show!.

Just don't think that you'll start at the top like the person you mentioned!. I have a friend who is in radio, he spent over $40,000 going to Brown broadcasting school and he feels that they took him for a ride, I tend to agree!. What you should do is practice reading out loud and record yourself and have a friend listen and tell what you need improvement on!. While you are doing this look for a small radio station close to your house and see if you can become a board operator for some sporting events and then try to get much as possible out of that!.!.!.GOOD LUCK!!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com
