I am in my last year of high school, I am currently living in Bali and am Dutch-Indonesian and plan on moving to Melbourne next year!.!.!.

I have been interested in being a radio DJ for some time and was just wondering how hard it would be to obtain such a job!.!.!. Would I have to work for some time at the station first!? also, I have an American accent (I speak english fluently), does that play a role on any of this!?

I don't know about how it works in Aus!. but in the U!.S!. I started out at the radio stationdoing part-time, running the control board for live, on location broadcasts!. It's really the lowliest job at the station, but it's a necessity!. That's where everyone starts out because the knowledge you gain from it is essential!. Everyone who works in programming has to know how to work the board!. Everyone has to do their time in the crap job too!.
From there, I got an air shift then worked up to morning show co-host and Promotions Director!.
I've been in radio for almost 8 years and I have a 2 year degree in Business/Mass Media!. I didn't have the degree when I started!. Most of the time, experience and willingness to learn trumps a degree- but if you've got both- you're golden!.

Good luck!
