You need to be someone who can talk about anything at anytime -- but also someone who doesn't ramble on and on!. It helps if you have a strong voice, no monotone, and have a firm grasp of the station's format (what kind of station IDs they use, etc!.)!. You should also have a strong personality, and be someone with whom people can connect with!. Consider the listener your friend, and each talkset a conversation with that friend!.
