Why do radio stations always have the letters K, W, R, X and Z in them?!

Question: Why do radio stations always have the letters K, W, R, X and Z in them!?
Answers:
W is to say it is East of the Mississippi basically, K is on the West!. The exception is KDKA in Pittsburgh, the FIRST radio station, and they got to keep the K because they were the first!. So since they were basically registered with that letter the FCC didn't make them change it!. As to the other letters it is mostly what is available!. I could name stations that don't use the letter other then the W or K!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Radio stations are assigned Call Signs by the FCC!. They begin with a "W" or a "K"!. Any other designation that a station chooses to use, like Q94 (in Bend, OR) is not their official Call Sign, but it makes it easier to remember or to use on the air!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Areas surrounding your local radio station have requirements!. And it's about the FCC!. Read their rules, and you will then understand!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

"5 live" doesn't Www@Enter-QA@Com
