In my area the police use it to talk between themselves as well as for use in emergencies when the police radio goes out !?!!!?!
But anyhow, I still talk on it occasionally to people who do get on just to chat as a hobby and something to do as well as small companies etc!.
But one of the more interesting things, is there are groups who goal it is, to work cb operators in as many countries as they can!.!. most of this is illegal as can be but interesting how many cb operators can talk to 100 and more countries via cb radio!.!.!.

I don't think they're near as popular now as in the 70's and 80's but people other than civil servants and truckers still utilize the technology!. Search for Pacetronics and there you'll find base stations for almost 3 hundred and a mobile unit featuring blue-tooth!. So if someone is selling it!.!.!. apparently there's a market for it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I still use mine!. It is nice to hear what the truckers are talking about!. I can get traffic info real time, instead of listening to the radio reports!. There are some places out here in the West that don't have cell phone reception!. If my car breaks down, I can get in touch with a truck driver and he/she can get me some help!.
