Question: Where does the internet radio signals come from!. How am I listening to radio online!?

Hi Claire

When you listen to internet radio you are actually requesting a server to send you a stream of continious audio thats being compressed using a lossy audio codec from a live station, so your signal is actually from a computer sending it!.

Your computer is turning this signal into sound by uncompressing the digital code from the server so this is where your signal is from!

Sometimes a computer can have too many requests so there will be slow down in your connection to the internet radio station!. You can choose what type of bandwidth to use for people who want higher quality you can choose 192 kbps or if you want to use less internet you can select only 56kbps of stream!.

It is reccomended to have a super fast ADSL connection so you can have the best possible sound quality from internet stations!.
