Does anyone still listen to Radio Caroline?!

I still love it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Hello my dear!. Your question brought back memories of the 1980's!. I was working on the continent!. The only regular English radio service was the Armed Forces Network, which in having to deal with the military all day, I really didn't want to look to their media for entertainment!. German radio was mainly talk with James Last style music in between!. I could only take so much of that!. A shortwave set that brought me in Radio Caroline, along with Radio Luxembourg and BBC World(for un-biased news) were my Savior!.

I didn't know that Radio Caroline still existed!. I'm listening on the web right now!. Thanks for the memories and thanks for letting me know something I once loved is still within my reach!.

xx

EDIT:

Thank you again for this question!. I've been able to listen in again!. I have also learned that the MV Ross Revenge is afloat and well!. It's docked in Tilbury and ongoing repairs to once again return "Pirate Radio" to the seas :-)

also, I have learned that the "Great 208" Radio Luxembourg is also available on web simulcast at http://www!.pjede!.de/208/index_2!.html

A note for people who may not understand the significance of Radio Caroline:

Unlike the USA, the UK and European country's governments control brodcasting by requiring a license be purchased to own and operate Radio and TV sets!. The BBC is the direct result of this!. While highly regulated, private brocasting is permitted in the UK, this did not always exist!. The government gave the people brocasting that it thought they should hear/see, not neccesaraly what the people wanted!. Radio Caroline came to be to give people what they wanted!. Popular Radio!. BBC's legendary Radio 1 was started in 1967 as a direct response to the popularity of Radio Caroline, which the British government spent decades trying to destroy, even though they were operating within the rights of international law!. The history makes interesting reading for those interested in the developent of modern culture and broadcasting!.
