Why does it seem like all radio stations are playing commercials at the same tim!

Question: Why does it seem like all radio stations are playing commercials at the same time!?
I have over 12 radio stations programed into my car radio!. At a certain time in the morning no matter which station I turn to, they all seem to be talking or commercials are playing!. I want to hear music, not endless ads or endless chatter from the DJs!. Is there some unwritten rule that all stations have to take breaks at the same time!? Just curious!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's called a road-block!. Many of those stations are owned by the same company and they do it on purpose!. The others pick up the format from their competitors and try to counterprogram, but they don't want to be in commercials when the big guys are in music (and vice-versa), so they all end up following the same basic clock!. And once again the listener gets it!.

On the other side of the coin, if the advertising doesn't get heard, it doesn't get acted on!. If no one responds to the ads, the advertisers don't spend money with the station any more and then what!?

What would you do if you were a program director responsible for getting the most people to listen to your station - not for the listeners, but for the ratings that bring in the ad dollars!. Remember your family's income depends on those ads, like it or not!.

So that if you are listening to your favorite station you won't switch to another station because it will also have commericial, so you just wait!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

fcc rules say radio stations have to identify themselves at certain intervals!. I imagine commercials were added to that to make more moneyWww@Enter-QA@Com

It sound like the stations are using the same rotation clock!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

because they play more commercials than music any more!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

WEll most stations do kinda try to keep their commercials pretty similarly timed so that you will get frustrated adn come backl to their statioon if you left when they went to commercial!. They figure , eventually these guys will find its just as easy to stay here and listen to our commercials if we are all on commercialds!.
PLus depending on how they ar eprogrammed there are news services, other things that are programmed at the same time so commercials kinda fall into the available slots, on several stations at the same time frame!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

if you live in the Philadelphia area by any chance listen to yrock on the HD radio, that's on 88!.5 HD2 and has no commercials, and well in the morning not that much talking!.
you would love my show, I play about 30 songs in 2 hours, no commercials and my talking breaks are every 3-4 songs and do not last long, well I do like telling stories about the bands but that's what the djs are for!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
