Cb radio grounding question?!

Question: as of right now i have my cb radio in my car grounded to the car's battery. Would it be better if i grounded the radio more locally to the frame of the car? would i get less interference? and also less of a fire hazard?

im talking about the CB Unit, not the antenna.

Hi,

When the negative pool make contact with your battery or the frame of the car is just the same with other word , it dos not matter very much. What interference do you mean ?

But it is very in purterd to make shure the SWR of the ant is good as low as possible than you will make less interference becourse the HF signal of the antenne dos have a good radiate than.

If possible i say if ? the best place to install the ant is in the middle of the roof on top off the car

Most radio installs I've seen are on the fence both ways on how to do this, but for less interference and for safety, it's recommended to fuse both the positive and negative sides and to hook both into the battery securely

(the fuse on the negative side is to help prevent any thing from possibly trying to use your CB to seek a ground path back to the battery)
