I want to be a radio jockey. Any advice/tips?!

OK OK I've won the Indiana State Highscool Radio championship (my highschool has a station) and I'm a freshman that rarely happens so heres my advice for you.
1. Stations like DJ's to be 16+
2. They make minimum wage so be ready to make cruddy pay
3. Annunciation is key W will get you in the most trouble
4 Like the music you work with you listen to it alot
5 Be able to work with new technology and be able to make productions such as ID shouts
6 Know what Image Drops, Id Shouts, and Underwriters are.
7 Know the FCC regulations for radio
8 Know your bands and song names it will come in handy even if they are on the screen you need to say them correctly.
9 Be able to write news sports and Business updates you do them alot.
10. Like the people you work with it will help
11. Be good with dead lines there are TONS of them.
12. Know your Station number and Call letters
13 Learn how to do a DJ break correctly.
14 Also if going into a station "summer job" doesnt cut it it's a job to be commited to the station they wont just let you leave.
15 ANYTHING YOU SAY ON THE MICROPHONE IS ON THE AIR YOU CANT TAKE IT BACK!!!

You need to go to college and get a Communications degree, or know someone who owns a radio station
The way I started was I called up a station and asked if I could sit in and just hang-out so I could learn. Within two weeks, I was on-the-air. Call a small station and ask if you can come in and go from there. Put a demo tape together too, you'll need that if you want to go anywhere from there.
Well usually you have to start in either customer service or advertising. Then work your way up. You can also call any radio station and will inform you of what qualifications they & other radio stations are looking for.
Go to the local radio station and tell them you will work for free and do whatever it takes to learn radio. Most local radio stations will take you up on your offer. Also if you are going to college there are some intern opportunities you can look into.
If you are in a small market try to get in with the radio stations there maybe part-time.. If clear channel own the station in your market just keep your day job it not worth it.
