Not that I like it, but how did the radio eliminate all late 80's hair bands!

Question: from airplay? Great White, White Lion, Poision, Dio, and all these other bands are gone like they never existed. I mean who survived from the 80's, Motley Crue and Guns and Roses???? All the rest of them are DEAD! Even New Wave is gone. No Whitsnake nothing and we listen to stuff 35 years old.

Depends upon the radio station but most classic rock stations in major markets try to stay with rock that doesn't go into some of the lesser known groups of the era (You forgot Tesla, Warrant, and a few others) and stays with perennial favorites that are the two you named plus Bon Jovi.
Most of the new stations won't play them as it's considered to old for newer fans even though many 80's hair fans still listen to new rock.

There are classic rock stations that feature hair metal shows like a friend of mine in Dallas had a show called "Hairball" where actually a lot of the playlist was her personal collection of hair metal cds.

There are also many rock stations not owned by the corporates or corporate stations that are outside of the top 100 that still play these groups even though like for Dio, they will usually only play "Holy Diver" (which was recently remade by the rock group Killswitch engage and the newer version is getting heavy airplay on rock radio right now)

But yes, you are pretty much limited to sat radio for the 80s and early 90s hair metal fix

(At least you aren't like me.... I mix AOR rock and the new rock with the 80s hair metal... sounds good but no webstreamers doing it together right now:-)

the reason is the radio stations, for the most part play the title tacks, and all of those songs were played so much the tuning & volume nobs were worn & way over used. and what's up with this? the music i listend to magically started playing on the so called OLDIES. i knew it was over for me at that point. never thought i'd be listening to ac/dc, rush, zepplin ect.. on a oldies station. if you want to hear white snake you need to keep that hidden. great white too? you have to be a burner to want to listen to that chicken scratch.

even Bon Jovi cut their hair...... ~(And we all became folically challenged)

A lot met their maker, and with few new songs being released, or gigs to go to, younger generations loose interest.

Sad but true.....

Just get a Sirius radio or Internet Subscription. Hair Nation is on Channel 23.

You can hear all those big haired bands from the 80's

No one likes it any more, so they don't play it.
It is played on XM all the time.
