Radio has not made any good progress compared to Television or telephone or any !

Question: Radio has made alot of progress recently with satellite radio, DAB and HD Radio. Fifty years ago, radios were the size of tvs, now they come in cereal boxes. A person in Australia can go on the Internet, tune in a Country station in Paducah, plug in his wireless headphones, and he might as well be in Kentucky. That was unheard of just 15 years ago. Radio is the one medium that has progressed faster than any other. TV was supposed to kill it, but all TV proved is that radio is the one medium that will never die.

well you have dab radio with digital quality sound you have radios that have got smaller and smaller put into mobile phones and other gadgets such as showers and baths certainly they will never compete with other technology such as tv with increased picture quality but you never will a radio with pictures would be tv.

Yes u r,I live in Philadelphia and radio has always been a source of information in my community this has been a vital source for over fifty years in the african american community.
Maybe I have misunderstood u and if we r talking about gadgets and radio I believed is in step with tv and telephone just check out the things or info you can received by radio.

Regular radio...you're right.
Satellite radio is progress.

The only thing radio needs is a good DJ. Listen live to 98.9 the rock. Johnny Dare rules the morninng and Niven tears up the night.

How has it not progressed?

Without advances made in the research of radio, TV could still be 3 rotating colored disks to watch a moving picture.

Radio can move as much as TV.. BUT we have had HD tv actually for 20 years. What it is, is TV takes up valuable air space and police needed more frequencies to talk... hince it was decided to push tv to forced digital and the promise of a clearer picture was the answer with HDTV.

We have the technology to give you almost as much choices on radio as they do on Sat radio for free.. BUT people won't accept the wholesale replacement of their current radios as a TV can use a convertor box to catch those new digital signals, a radio can't be.

HD radio is being sold as a miracle cure all to give the better quality that digital holds but not alienating current radio listeners..So far the public isn't on the train yet.

Cellphones are small radios and the basic technology has been the same since the 1940s.. just that 10-15 years ago they discovered digital could do it quicker, faster, and cheaper to take on the demand of everyone wanting a cell phone.

Steve Jobs did a good invention of the I-Pod which is just a portable storage player... instead of lugging CDs or cassettes, hey lets fill the music digitally to the device.. that is genius with the rest trying to follow suit.

Most technology goes hand in hand.. just that people want the status quo on radio (even though we had the mass AM to FM exodus in the early 1980s)
