What I tend to think is happening is that we are beginning to see "the death" of reggaeton.

The sound has become oversaturated with the same repetitive beats and similarities in lyrics. While it came in quickly in a rage back in 2005, it is starting to die.

Just recently, WCAA (La Kalle 105.9), the reggaeton station in New York, took a major nosedive in the ratings. If that is any indication being that New York has TONS of Latinos (such as myself) here...then you can get an idea that reggaeton in terms of radio airplay will soon die out..just like any musical fad such as disco.

Probally the same thing that happened to the Christan station on Sirius, not enough people listened to keep the station around. Radio is watched just like television, if not enough people watching/listening it's not worth paying DJ's to play the music so it goes goodbye....
