Sirius Satellite Radio? How good?!

Question: I"m looking to get the portable unit for Sirius radio. I've been listening to it a bit online on a free trial and I can't seem to find just one channel that plays all the newest hits of every genre. There is one that claims to do so, but I have yet to hear a single song that can be considered "current". Is the radio worth it? Does it have one or two general channels such as this? Does it have a contemporary rock channel as well, i wasn't able to find on eof those either?

I had the Sirius Stiletto 100 and its a piece of junk!!! I then bought a XM Pioneer Inno and i love it. Check out XM at http://www.xmradio.com It is worth it!! And they have a lot of Current music channels for every format.

On XM, you don't get all the channels online during the free trial so there's probably some pleasant surprises once you sign up. I have XM, not Sirius, so I can't testify with complete knowledge about Sirius, but they are very similar in all other respects. So I'm pretty sure they'll have what you're looking for.

It also depends on your definition of current.

More info is on their website, including sample artists and songs available on the various channels, but you already know that since you're using the free trial.

Why not try XM as well. You might like it better.

I have had sirius for a while and its great there is a channel for everything

sirius is better for surfing. theres many different channels and you do hafta search around to find stuff youre in the mood to listen to. on all the receivers, you can set your faves and then rotate through them whenever you want. as for channels, in the teens, theres spectrum and i think one more, but i cant think of the name, they dont play the newest but theres a good mix of every type of like adult-contemporary/top 40 from the last 30 years. you cant stick with just one station tho.

Sirius is awesome, beats XM hands down. Look at the guide on www.sirius.com.

I have the Sirius Portable Unit. The thing that stinks is that you can't listen to the radio without having it in a docking station. You have to record the songs from the station and then listen to those songs that you have recorded. Honestly I don't think it is that good because I got it about a year ago and haven't listened to it for like 6 months. The stations play the same songs you can get on the radio and sometimes repeat the same song not long after they have already played it. Honeslty, I think plain radio is better for music.

However, the good thing is, is that you get all NFL games every week and will also find out of area college games as well. Plus Howard Stern is hilarious and almost makes it worth it just to listen to his station. I believe there is a station with hits from all genres. In fact it is Channel 1 and is called Top 40 Hits. You will also get weather and traffic from all major cities in the U.S.

Really, it is worth it because there are so many stations. I listened to Alt Nation 21 and there wasn't a lot of good songs, but I'm sure the others have the hits.
