Actually there is a merger pending where Sirius will likely be taking over XM. The new name (if there's to be one, has yet to be anounced). So don't believe everything you read. I'm sure murrayc's intentions are good, but the info is not quite correct.

Unless you want to spring for a rental car that has one of the services, you can't rent one anywhere that I'm aware of.

The good news is you can go to either of their websites and listen to selected stations for free. Sirius will allow you to listen free for three days. XM also has a free trial with no obligation if you're over 18.

Then decide which you like best and go for it.
