Why is it that Arkansas and Oklahoma radio stations play so many commercials?!
Question: I'm from Mississippi but I've been stuck in these two states the past couple of years cuz of Hurricane Katrina. I've noticed that compared to down south (Louisiana and Mississippi), there are a ton more commercials on the radio here. There will be a 3 or 4 minute commercial break, one song, and then at least a couple more minutes of commercials sometimes. In Oklahoma, I asked a dude why they played so many commercials, and he just responded with "this is Oklahoma." Do the radio stations around here have a harder time making money so they have to have more commercials?

Have you considered that It may be the other way around: that there are fewer commercials in Miss. because it is a more rural state with fewer people, businesses and radio stations? And Katrina put a big hurt on advertising in those states affected.

more commercials = more money
and it could be both ways .. they need the money or they've been offered all that money so why should they say No
Be cause that is their source of earning. we only listen the songs but never directly pay them. the money is reaching to as through. thats why they are going commercial.In televisoin channels we haveing a lot more commercial breaks than of that in radio.
